Installation

Pre-Installation Guidelines

Switch off all computers*

The KVM comes with a Jumper Cable to connect the Integrated Console Ports to

the KVM Console Ports. This cable must be connected for the unit to function. Do not remove the Jumper Cable unless you are installing a Tripp Lite B050-000 or B051-000 IP

Remote Access Unit. See the IP Remote Access Unit connection instructions on page 10 for details.

Ensure that the cables are not close to any sources of electrical noise interference such as fluorescent lights, HVAC systems or motors

Ensure that the distance between any computer and the KVM switch does not exceed 100 ft.

*PS/2 computers need to have the Keyboard and Mouse connectors installed before they are turned on. If you plug the Keyboard and Mouse connectors into an active PS/2 computer, it may not recognize them, causing them not to work.

Connecting the NetCommander KVM System

Connect each computer to the KVM switch using a Tripp Lite B078-101-PS2* or B078-101-USB* Server Interface Unit (SIU) and a Cat5e patch cable.

* Cat5 cable should be no longer than 100 ft..
