WARNING
Do not push down on the
handlebars to try to make the
tiller till more deeply. This
prevents the wheels from
holding the tiller backand can
allow the tines to rapidly
propel the tiller backward
toward the operator, which
could result in lossof control,
property damage, or personal
injury.
Letthe tiller moveat its own paceand do
notpush down on the handlebarsto try to
dig deeper- this takesweight off the
wheels,cuts traction, andcausesthe tines
totry andpropel the tiller.
5. Forreverse motion ofthe wheels and
tines:
(a)Look behindandexercise caution
whenoperating in reverse. Donot
tillwhile inreverse.
(b) Stop all forward motion before
reversing. Lift thehandlebars with
onehand until the tines areoff the
groundand then pullthe Reverse
ClutchControl knob outto engage
reversemotion (seeFigure4-3). To
stop reversemotion, let go of the
ReverseClutch Control knob.
6. ToTurn the Tiller Around:
(a)Practice turning thetiller ina level,
openarea. Bevery careful to keep
yourfeet and legsawayfrom the
tines.
(b) To makeaturn, lift the handlebars
untilthe engineandtines are
balancedover the wheels (Figure
4-4). Thetines must beout of the
groundwhile turning thetiller.
(c) With the tiller balanced, push
sidewayson the handlebar to move
thetiller inthe direction of theturn
(Figure4-5). After completing the
turn, slowly lower the tines into the
soilto resumetilling.

StoppingtheTiller and Engine
1.To stopthe wheels andtines, release
the ForwardClutch Bail or the Reverse
ClutchControl- whichever is engaged.
2. To stop the engine, movethe throttle
control lever on engine to "OFF"or
"STOP"position.
