Installation

Selecting a Location

Beforechoosing a location for your newphone, there are some important
guidelinesyou should consider:
çThelocation should be close to both a phone jack and continuous
poweroutlet. ( A continuous power outlet is an AC outlet which does
nothave a switch to interrupt its power. )
çKeepthe Base Unit and Handset away from sources of electrical
noisesuch as motors or fluorescent lighting.
çBesure there is sufficient space to rotate the Base Unit antenna fully
vertical.
çTheBase Unit can be placed on a desk or tabletop or mounted on a
standardAT&T or GTE wall plate.
çYoushould charge your new phone for 15-20 hours before
completingthe installation or using theHandset.

Telephone Line Outlets

Thereare two types of phone outlets:
ModularJack
Mostphone equipment available now uses modular jacks. Phone cords are
fittedwith a molded plastic connector which plugs into this type of jack. If
youdo not have modular phone jacks, contact your local telephone
companyfor information about their installation.
Hard-wiredJack
Someequipment is wired directly to a phone jack, and these types of
installationsrequire a modular jack converter. This type of installation is not
difficult;however, you should contact your Uniden telephone dealer or a
telephonesupply store for advice about the proper adapter or converter for
yourparticular situation.

Connecting the Telephone Cords

Considerthese safety guidelines before connecting the telephone cords:
CAUTION:
çNeverinstall telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
çNevertouch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the
telephoneline has been disconnected.
çUsecaution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
