•Nunca cocine o recaliente un huevo entero con la cáscara . La acumulación de vapor en huevos enteros puede hacer que exploten y posiblemente el horno se dañe. Rebane los huevos duros antes de calentarlos. En raras ocasiones ha ocurrido que los huevos poché han explotado. Cubra los huevos poché y deje reposar durante un minuto antes de cortarlos.

•Para óptimos resultados, revuelva los líquidos varias veces durante el calentamiento o recalentamiento. Los líquidos calentados en algunos recipientes (especialmente recipientes con forma cilíndrica) se pueden calentar excesivamente. El líquido puede salpicar haciendo un ruido fuerte durante o después del calentamiento o cuando se agregan ingredientes (gránulos de café, bolsitas de té, etc.). Esto puede dañar el horno.

•Las microondas pueden no llegar al centro de un asado. El calor se extiende al centro desde la parte de afuera cocinada, lo mismo que cuando se cocina en un horno común. Esta es una de las razones para dejar que algunos alimentos (por ejemplo asado o papas horneadas) reposen por un tiempo luego de cocinar, o para revolver algunas comidas mientras se están cocinando.

•No sobrecocine las papas. Al final del tiempo de cocción recomendado, las papas deben de estar ligeramente firmes porque se seguirán cocinando durante el tiempo de reposo. Luego de cocinar con microondas, déjelas reposar por 5 minutos.
