Un elettrodo a scintilla accende il fornello a superficie. Questo controllo elimina l’esigenza di una fiamma viva sempre presente. Per maggiore sicurezza e convenienza, il fornello è dotato di un sistema automatico di riaccensione. Questa funzione consente di riaccendere il fornello nel caso in cui la fiamma si spenga. Per maggiore sicurezza, il piano di cottura è dotato di una valvola di sicurezza del gas nel caso in cui non sia possibile riaccendere la fiamma.

Ènormale per la manopola di controllo restare leggermente sollevata rispetto alla superficie. Questo spazio consente la giusta ventilazione per una buona combustione del gas.
