Scanning grayscale images The descriptions below are for scanning grayscale images only.

Resolution or dots per inch (dpi) indicates the scanning resolution, which largely determines the quality of the scanned image. The greater the resolution, the better the reproduction. However, scanning at a higher resolution also increases scanning time and file size.

Choose a resolution value from the drop down list. The default is 200 dpi. Available resolutions are:

Color

Scanner i820 — 100, 150, 200

Scanner i840 — 100, 150, 200, 300

Color Tables the selection of a color table effects how the scanner reproduces the color of a scanned document. You can chose from six different Kodak default color tables: Pictures, Pictures 2, Text, Text with Pictures, Text with Pictures 2, and Text with Pictures 3. The user can also download and accept custom color tables. For information about custom color tables, refer to the Brightness and Contrast Control Reference Guide, A-61506.
