Network Address Translation (NAT) is supported between local Sametime community servers and Sametime Gateway 7.5.1, but NAT is not supported between Sametime Gateway and the Internet, because of a limitation in the SIP protocol.

Sametime servers 3.0, 6.5.1, and 7.0 require a SIP patch to connect to Sametime Gateway. A patch is available from Lotus Support, so you can successfully connect Sametime Gateway to external Sametime 3.1, 6.5.1, or 7.0 servers. These patches need to be applied to older Sametime servers in external communities.
