Windows 2000

In this section, we describe the installation procedure for Windows 2000.

Windows 2000 supports up to 256 serial ports, from COM1 to COM256. In order to utilize fully Windows 2000’s multi-process and multi-thread advanced features, pure 32-bit Windows 2000 device drivers were developed for MOXA multiport boards. The drivers conform to the Win32 COMM API standard.

Installing the Driver for the First Time

The following procedure shows how to install the CP-102U/UL driver for the first time under Windows 2000. First, make sure the board or boards have already been plugged into the system’s PCI or PCI-X slot(s).

NOTE

If you have already installed a CP-102U/UL or other MOXA Smartio/Industio board in your computer, and you install additional boards, Windows 2000 will automatically detect and install the new board(s) the next time you boot up the computer. In this case, proceed directly to the next section, “Configuring the Ports,” to configure the ports’ serial transmission parameters.
