6.2Installing an Expansion Card

Your system supports one PCI slot located on a riser card. You can install a PCI expansion card for additional or enhanced functions. Follow this procedure to install an expansion card:

1.Before you purchase a PCI expansion card to add to the system, make sure that the card is less than 7 inches (177.8 mm) long. Otherwise, it will not fit into the place.

2.Open the cabinet cover (see section 6.1 in this chapter).

3.Remove the screw, lift the small retainer, and then the metal slot cover. Keep the cover for future use when you remove the card.

4.Firmly press the expansion card’s edge connector into the expansion slot and secure the retainer with the screw.

5. Replace the cabinet cover.
