COM (Console) Port

The XSR comes equipped with a COM serial port useful for initial configuration and management.

Using a serial (null modem) cable, you can attach the router’s DB-9 COM port to a data terminal port and directly configure the XSR over the asynchronous connection. Then, open a communications or Telnet session to communicate with the router. If you use communications program, set the connection properties as follows:

Connect using: Direct to COMx (where x is an unused COM port)

Bits per second: 9600

Data bits: 8

Parity: None

Stop bits: 1

Flow control: none

Note: The XSR default login is admin with no password.

Refer to Figure A-1for pinout assignments.
