dormant

The network switches the data connection into dormant mode if there is no traffic on the connection for some time. When you resume data traffic, the high-speed data connection becomes active.

The data connection may also go dormant while a GPS fix is being acquired.

ESN

Electronic Serial Number—The unique serial number assigned to the card for cellular network use. Either the ESN or MEID is on the label on the card, and is also displayed in the “Device Info & Diagnostics” window (Windows; page 89) or “About Sprint Device” window (Mac; page 118). See also MEID.
