APPENDIX D - Approvals

LVD - Safety Statements:

Power Rating Information - AC Source:

1.

Voltage Range:

230/120Vac.

2.

Current Range

40mA at 230V and 85mA at 120V.

3.

Frequency Range

50/60Hz.

Safety Instructions:

1.The apparatus must be installed and maintained by COMPETENT SERVICE PERSONNEL.

2.Disconnect power and line connector on the modem before attempting to change the PIM module.

3.The apparatus is a class 1 device and must be connected to a suitable earth.

Disconnect device statement:

The mains plug on the equipment serves as the disconnect device, therefore a socket outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible.

TTE - Network and Safety statements

The AC power connection has a saftey status of HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE.

The line Network connection has a safety status of TNV-1

The X.21 Network Interface Port has a safety status of Un-earthed SELV.

The X.21bis Network Interface Port has a safety status of Un-earthed SELV.

The V.35 Network Interface Port has a safety status of Un-Earthed SELV.

The V36 Network Interface Port has a safety status of Earthed SELV.

The RS530 Network Interface Port has a safety status of Earthed SELV.

The G.703 Digital Network Interface Port has a safety status of Earthed SELV.

Caution - Electrostatic Sensitive Device

Electrostatic precautions should be used at all times when handling the Plug in Modules.To ensure continued compliance, ensure any port or connector when not in use is protected by the cover or dummy plug supplied.

EMC - Statements:

This is a class B product (with exception to its use with the V.35 Interface which renders the unit as a Class A product). In a domestic environment this product may cause radio interefence in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures.

EMC Test conditions:

During EMC testing, the digital port cable used was of a screened type. To ensure compliance, it is recommended that a screened cable is used on this port when in use.
