You will only see the screen in Figure 4 if your system has one to three free disks. If four or more free disks are available, you’ll automatically proceed to Custom setup.

Configuration Options

4.Select a configuration that fits your storage needs.

Select the Protection option to automatically configure the best RAID option based on the number of drives, with the criteria that if a drive fails you will not lose your data.

Select the Capacity option to automatically configure the best RAID option based on the number of drives and the desire for maximum capacity. This array is not fault-tolerant, so choose this option only if your data is noncritical or is backed up.

Select the Custom option to create one of these custom RAID arrays: -Mirrored

-Striped

-Stripe mirrored -Spanning -RAID 5

5. If you have four or more arrays, set up a Custom array.

To set up a custom mirrored array, select Mirroring as the RAID mode and leave Stripe Size with its default value, as shown in Figure 5. (Next Page)
