3Perform the following sequence; open the top cover all the way until it stops at hinges, and unlock the printhead assembly by pushing the printhead release lever and raise it until it stops and stands upright.

4Hold by both hands the ribbon with a length of about 300 mm (1 ft) unwound between bobbins; the left hand grips the source ribbon and the right hand grips the destination ribbon.
