The NL6000 is a Data Communications Equipment (DCE) device. Other equipment that can connect to the NL6000 via the serial port fall into one of the following categories:

DTE	Data Terminal Equipment (computers, mainframes,
	terminals)
DCE	Data Communications Equipment (modems, printers,
	other peripherals)

Connect a DTE device to the DB9 connector with a 9-pin male connector wired one-for-one as shown in Figure 4 and Figure 5.
