Boot Mode

Introduction

Overview

In addition to using a BOOTP server or manual settings, the Switched Rack PDU can use a dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server to provide the settings that it needs to operate on a TCP/IP network.

The method used to provide the network settings for the PDU depends on Boot mode, a TCP/IP option in the Network menu. To use a DHCP server to provide the network assignment for the PDU, Boot mode must be set to either DHCP & BOOTP, its default setting, or DHCP only.

For more details on DHCP and DHCP options, see RFC2131 and RFC2132.
