PLAYBACK

Normal Playback

1Turn on the power to the VCR and TV monitor.

2Load the video cassette tape.

3Press the REC/PLAY SPEED l (or j) button to select the playback speed mode.

øThe selected playback speed mode is displayed on the digital display.

NOTES:

œIf the playback speed is set to “000”, playback (step 4) will not be possible.

œAt playback, the picture quality code cannot be selected and therefore will not be displayed. The playback speed mode is selected and the picture quality code is set automatically according to the recording speed mode and the picture quality code selected for the recording.

œA slow motion effect or accelerated playback effect can be achieved by using a slower or faster playback speed than the speed used for recording.

4Press the PLAY button.

øPlayback starts.

øThe message “NOW LOADING” flashes until the image appears on-screen.

øIf necessary, adjust the tracking to clear the picture.

øWhen the playback of data finishes, the last picture will be displayed frozen on-screen and “NO DATA” will flash on the display.

øWhen frame recording has been performed, frame playback will be done. “F” will be displayed at the left of the playback speed mode. If the FRAME/FIELD button is pressed, field playback will start and the “F” display will disappear. To return to frame playback, press the FRAME/FIELD button one more time.

5To stop playback, press the STOP button.

øTo advance (or rewind) the tape, press the FF (or REW) button.

NOTES:

œA tape recorded on another VCR cannot be played back on this unit.

œIf the tape speed is changed during playback, it will be reset to the previous tape speed when playback is stopped.

Tracking Control

If the playback picture is not clear

1Press the TRACKING + and button simultaneously.

ø----flashes while automatic tracking is performed.

If the playback picture is still not clear

1Press the TRACKING + (or ) button until the playback picture is clear.

øThe playback picture quality can be checked after the tape counter has functioned twice.

2If the playback picture is still not clear, repeat step 1.

Audio Playback

œAudio playback is only possible in 12-hour, 24-hour, 48-hour and 72-hour modes.

œThe playback speed has to be the same as the recording speed, for normal playback of the audio.

Still Image

1Press the STILL/PAUSE button, during normal playback.

øA still image can be viewed.

2To return to normal playback, press the PLAY button.

NOTES:

œIf still mode continues for 5 minutes or more, the VCR will go into stop mode to avoid damaging the tape.

œIf a moving subject is recorded on tape using the picture quality code “F”, the still image playback may be blurred. In such a case, press the FRAME/FIELD button to display a clear image.

Digital View (Forward and Reverse)

1Press the FF (or REW) button, during normal playback.

øThe playback will be done in 12-hour mode, independently of the playback speed mode setting.

2To return to normal playback, press the PLAY button.

NOTES:

œThe sound is muted.

œIf reverse digital view mode continues for 5 minutes or more, the VCR will go into stop mode to avoid damaging the mechanism.

œIn reverse digital view mode, a still image playback will be displayed and “NOW LOADING” will flash on-screen while the data is being read to the memory.

While the message “NOW LOADING” is displayed, the PLAY, FF, REW and STILL/PAUSE buttons will not operate.
