Abbreviation for remote control software.

RS-232

Abbreviation for Recommended Standard 232. Also known as RS-232C, the RS-232 is the standard for asynchronous serial-port transfers set by the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA). The physical interface has one wire used as the ground wire, while the rest are dedicated to detecting carrier signals, managing the timing of data transfer, and sending and receiving data. The RS-232 supports two standard types of connector, the 25-pin D-type and 9-pin D-type.

Abbreviation for service set identifier.

T

TCP/IP

Abbreviation for transmission control protocol/internet protocol. Standard communications protocol for transmitting data over networks. TCP/IP is the basic communication language or protocol of the internet.

USB

Abbreviation for universal serial bus. An external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of 12Mbps (megabits per second), which is significantly faster than a serial connection.
