Many playback features and options are available on Discs. Familiarize yourself with the Player and its remote as described on pages 18-22. Then see pages 23 and following to try other features.

1 Press STANDBY-ON y to turn on the Player. The red Standby light will disappear from the front of the Player.

2 Turn on your TV. Set it to the correct Video In channel. This is not channel 3 or 4 (as it might be for a VCR), but a distinct Video In channel. (When using an RF modulator as described on page 9, the Video In channel is 3 or 4.) You should see the Player’s blue background screen on the TV. If you cannot find the correct Video In channel, see your TV owner’s manual.

3 Press OPEN/CLOSE c on the Player to open the disc tray. Load up to five Discs in the tray, with only one Disc per slot. Load Discs with the label facing up and the shiny side facing down as you place the Disc in the tray. If the Disc is two- sided, make sure the side you want to play is facing up.

4 Press OPEN/CLOSE c again to close the tray. Playback may begin automatically.

5 To play a specific Disc, press DISC repeatedly. Or, press a Disc (1,2,3,4,5) button on the front of the Player.

6 If playback does not start automatically, press PLAY :. For a DVD, a Disc menu may appear. If the Title or Chapter selections are numbered, press a Number button to select an item. Or, press 98 ; : to select an item to play, then press OK.

7 To stop playback, press STOP C.

Resume

Resume works with the last five DVDs, Video CDs, and Super Video CDs. Press STOP C to stop playback and set up Resume. The next time you play the Disc, play will resume at the point at which you stopped it. If you press STOP C twice to stop playback, Resume will not be activat- ed. The next time you play the Disc, play will start at the beginning of the Disc.

The Resume symbol (below) may appear on the TV when you reload a Disc. Press PLAY : while Resume appears; play will resume at the point at which you stopped playback.

Helpful Hints

If the Disc is Locked by Access Control, you must enter the four- digit code or unlock the Disc. Details are on pages 30-33.

DVDs have a region code. Your Player will not play discs that have a region code different from the region code of your Player. The Player’s region code is 1 (one). Details are on page 8.

Resume may not be available with all Discs.

When playing MP3 files or SACDs, you will not have sound using the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jacks. Details are on page 36.

If a Video CD will not play, make sure Playback Control is Off. Details are on page 38.

Pressing PLAY, OPEN/CLOSE, EXCHANGE, DISC, or DISC

1,2,3,4,5 will close the disc tray.
