After configuring the audio and video inputs, the next line down allows you to have messages con- cerning the remote zone status (source selected, volume level, etc.) “reported” to the main zone’s displays or not. Pressing the Ý Menu Control button when this line is highlighted turns the reporting feature ON or OFF.

The last line on the Remote Zone menu allows you to select whether the remote zone has the ability to control its volume level locally or is fed a fixed-level signal. Select the Output Level line and press the Ü or Ý Menu Control button to choose FIXED or VARIABLE. Note that if the FIXED choice is selected, an additional line appears below, on which the Ý Menu Control button will raise the level and the Ü Menu Control button will lower it.

This feature will be helpful in preventing “excess” volume levels from being selected in the remote zone, or simply setting a low “background” level for that area.

Remote Zone Operation

To operate the 5.0 in the remote zone, simply press any of the six

buttons R under the sliding panel on the remote control. (These are the only inputs able to be sent to the remote zone. Digital sources cannot be selected.) Pressing one of these buttons will turn the

5.0on if it was off, and feed the selected audio (and associated video) into the remote zone. If the video monitor is on in the primary zone, and the Remote Zone menu option Rem Zone Msgs is on, the status of the remote zone will be displayed on it and the front panel display until they time out. If this option has not been chosen, operation of the remote zone will not be reported to the displays in the main zone.

If the Remote Zone menu option for VARIABLE remote zone volume was chosen, the volume may be controlled by use of the Remote Zone Volume buttons S. Otherwise, the remote zone volume level is fixed. In either case, local audio may be muted by pressing the

button T; a second push will restore the audio.

When a remote zone session is complete, pressing the Remote Zone Off button U will turn of the signal feeds to the remote zone, and, if the main zone is not in use, will put the 5.0 into standby.

System Reset

There are certain circumstances under which you may wish to return entire sections of custom pro- gramming to the factory default settings. The 5.0 is sufficiently flexible to allow four different types of reset. The first three reset only the (surround) Modes, Programs and Calibration Parameters (speakers setup details). The fourth is a System reset, returning ALL user modifications to original factory settings.

The first three choices are:

Reset Modes — Select this if you wish to make many changes to the Customer or Party Surround modes, starting from the original settings.

Reset Programs — If you wish to reset the Program choices to the original settings.

Reset Calib Params — This would be used if you are moving your loudspeakers, or are changing (or adding) loudspeakers.

The last choice, System Reset may cure abnormal system or display operation due to erratic operation of the system’s memory or microprocessor. Before attempting a system reset, try turning the 5.0 off using the Master Power button 1. After pushing this button so that it returns to the “out” position, unplug the 5.0 from the wall outlet for at least three minutes, then reconnect the plug, push the Master Power button 1 on, and see if the problem has been corrected. If not, a System Reset may correct the problem.
