This interesting feature lets you record two types of digital still images that look like photographs onto a tape, as well as keeping them in the camcorder’s built-in memory. It is a great way to spice up footage of events such as parties, weddings and graduations.

SNAPSHOT MODE SELECTION

1 Press in the tabs on the lens cap to remove it, then set the Power Switch to “ ”. The VIDEO Lamp comes on. If the DSC Lamp is lit, press REFRESH for approx. 1 second to select “VIDEO”. The camcorder enters Record-Standby mode.

2 Press the MENU Wheel in. The Menu Screen appears.

3 Rotate the MENU Wheel to select “TO SYSTEM MENU” and press it to display SYSTEM MENU.

4 Rotate the MENU Wheel to select “SNAPSHOT”, and press it. The SNAPSHOT Menu appears.

Rotate the MENU Wheel to select “FULL” or “PIN- UP”, and press it. Selection is complete.

5 The Menu Screen reappears with the highlight bar on

SNAPSHOT RECORDING

1 Press SNAPSHOT.

•Regardless of the Power Switch position ( “” or “ ”), Snapshot recording takes place using the selected Snapshot mode.

If you press during Record-Standby . . .

.... a still image will be recorded for approx.

6 seconds, then the camcorder re-enters the Record-Standby mode.

If you press during Recording . . .

.... a still image will be recorded for approx.

6 seconds, then the normal recording resumes.

NOTES:

When the remaining number indicator displays “0” (blinking), the still image will be recorded onto the tape

but not in the built-in memory. If you wish to store a still image in the built-in memory,  pg. 33.

If a snapshot is taken while the camcorder is in the WIDE mode ( pg. 41), the snapshot image is recorded without the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen.

When a Snapshot is taken in a dark environment, the still image recorded onto the tape and stored in memory will become coarse and its true colors will be lost.

The Snapshot mode can also be used during playback. However, only the Full mode is available regardless of the Snapshot mode setting, and the shutter sound is not heard.
