Playing CDs

Setting scan play

Scan play lets you hear the first 10 seconds of each track on the CD.

1Move the joystick left or right to select the scan option.

The scan option is highlighted.

2Move the joystick up or down to switch to the desired setting.

This switches you to the selected setting.

!on – The first 10 seconds of each track is played

!off – Tracks will continue to play

3When you find the desired track, move the joystick up or down to cancel the scan play.

Note

After scanning of a CD is finished, normal play- back of the tracks will begin again.

Using CD TEXT functions

Some discs have certain information encoded on the disc during manufacture. These discs may contain such information as the CD title, track title, artist’s name and playback time and are called CD TEXT discs. Only these spe- cially encoded CD TEXT discs support the functions listed below.

Displaying text information on CD TEXT discs

1Press DISP to switch to the information display 2.

2Move the joystick left or right to select the title option.

The title option is highlighted.

3Move the joystick up or down to select the desired title.

This switches you to the selected title.

!Disc Title – Disc title

!Disc Artist – Disc artist name

!Track Title – Track title

!Track Artist – Track artist name

#If specific information has not been recorded on a CD TEXT disc, No XXXX will be displayed (e.g., No Track Artist Name).

#Some characters may not be displayed prop- erly.

Scrolling text information in the display

This unit can display the first 22 letters of

 

Disc Title, Disc Artist, Track Title and

CDs

Track Artist. When the recorded information

 

is longer than 22 letters, you can scroll the text

 

to the left so that the rest of the title can be

 

seen.

 

%Click the joystick to scroll the title to the left.

The rest of the title will appear in the display.

Switching discs

You can switch discs.

1Press DISP to switch to the disc list dis- play.

2Move the joystick left or right to select the desired disc.

A frame appears around the selected disc.

3Click the joystick.

The selected disc starts playing.

Notes

!You can also switch discs by pressing 1–6.

!You can also switch discs by pressing aor b (DISC).
