Messaging
You can exchange brief text and multimedia messages with other mobile phones that support these forms of messaging (also known as SMS and MMS) and with email addresses. Before you use your Treo to send or receive messages, consult Cingular Wireless for pricing and availability of text and multimedia messaging services.
Creating and sending a text message
Each text message can hold up to 160 characters. Messages with more than 160 characters are automatically split into several messages. (If you send a text message to an email address, the email address is deducted from the 160 character count.)
1.Make sure your phone is turned on (see “Turning your phone on and off” on page 15)
2.Press the Messaging button.
3.Select New.
4.Select the To pick list to address the message:
• If the recipient’s name appears in the To pick list, select it from the list.
To address a message to multiple recipients, separate the addresses with a space or a comma. If you address a single message to three people, you will be billed for three messages.
When entering a message, you can insert emoticons by pressing Center.
To add a new QuickText phrase, select Edit QuickText from the list.
