Troubleshooting

If you are having a problem with your CA-MD9R, check this list for a possible solution before calling for service.

If you cannot solve the problem from the hints given here, or the unit has been physically damaged, call a qualified person, such as your dealer, for service.

Symptom

No sound is heard.

Possible Cause

Connections are incorrect, or loose.

 

Check all connections and make

 

 

corrections. (See pages 4 – 5.)

 

 

 

Unable to record on an MD.

Unable to record.

Poor radio reception.

The CD skips.

Unable to operate the Remote Control.

The CD trays or MD loading slot cover cannot be opened.

The CD does not play.

Operations are disabled.

The cassette holder cannot be opened.

You are using a prerecorded MD.

The MD is write-protected.

Cassette record protect tabs are removed.

The antenna is not connected correctly.

The AM loop antenna is too close to the unit.

The FM antenna is not properly extended and positioned.

The CD is dirty or scratched.

The path between the Remote Control and the sensor on the unit is blocked.

The batteries have lost their charge.

The main AC power cord is not plugged in.

The Disc Lock function is turned on.

The CD is upside down.

The built-in microprocessor has malfunctioned due to external electrical interference.

During tape playing, the power cord was unplugged.

Change it with a recordable MD.

Unprotect the MD. (See page 69.)

Cover holes on back edge of cassette with adhesive tape.

Reconnect the antenna securely.

Change the position and direction of the AM loop antenna.

Extend FM antenna to the best reception position.

Clean or replace the CD.

Remove the obstruction.

Replace the batteries.

Plug in the AC power plug.

Turn off the Disc Lock function. (See page 66.)

Put the CD in with the label side up.

Unplug the unit then plug it back in.

Plug in the power cord, press the button, then the 0 button.
