Inoperable Telephone Recovery Procedures
Whenever a telephone is unable to operate normally or remains in a particular state with no escape, accomplish the following:
1.Press SETUP, the SETUP Menu should be displayed. This response indicates that there is power to the telephone, and its microprocessor is operating. Proceed to Step 5. If there is no display, proceed to Step 2.
2.Reseat the eight pin connectors of the telephone mounting cord at the telephone and at either the wall jack or the associated NT1 device.
3.Verify that the power indicator of the associated NT1 device is illuminated.
4.Replace the ISDN telephone with another and repeat the steps in this section.
5.Select ADMIN, then MORE, then RESTART, then YES. This will cause the telephone to reinitialize on Layers 1 through 3. If full initialization is attained, proceed to “Verify operation” on page 67, otherwise proceed to Step 6.
6.Determine which Layer is not initializing by observing the startup display.
Layer 1 does not initialize:
•Locate the NT1 device ahead of the telephone, and press its reset button. If the NT1 device does not have a reset button, recycle power by temporarily pulling it out of its rack, or unplug it from its
•Verify all connections between the NT1 and the registered jack interface.
•Replace the NT1 device.
Layer 2 does not initialize:
•Repeat Step 2.
