GETTING STARTED

5.Press the OK key to display the current DIAL TYPE setting and allow editing of the DIAL TYPE parameter:

6. Use the / keys to toggle between Tone and Pulse.

Check for a dial tone. After the battery pack is charged, pick up the handset and press PHONE, you should see the following display:

If not, see IN CASE OF DIFFICULTY.

Fill in the telephone number card on the base unit.

7.Press the OK key to confirm your selection. A confirmation tone will be generated, and the screen will display:

8.Press OFF twice to exit SETUP MODE.

Connect Telephone Line Cord

Plug one end of the telephone cord into a wall jack and the other end into the back of the base unit.

If the VT 1421 does not detect that an active telephone line cord is connected, the following message will be displayed:

CAUTION:

1.Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.

2.Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations.

3.Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone lane has been disconnected at the network interface.

4.Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
