Limited Warranty
Dear customer,
Welcome to B&W.
This product has been designed and manufactured to the highest quality standards. However, if something does go wrong with this product, B&W Group Ltd. and its national distributors warrant free of charge labour (exclusion may apply) and replacement parts in any country served by an official B&W distributor.
This limited warranty is valid for a period of five years from the date of purchase or two years for electronics including amplified loudspeakers.
Terms and Conditions
1The warranty is limited to the repair of the equipment. Neither transportation, nor any other costs, nor any risk for removal, transportation and installation of products is covered by this warranty.
2This warranty is only valid for the original owner. It is not transferable.
3This warranty will not be applicable in cases other than defects in materials and/or workmanship at the time of purchase and will not be applicable:
a.for damages caused by incorrect installation, connection or packing,
b.for damages caused by any use other than correct use described in the user manual, negligence, modifications, or use of parts that are not made or authorised by B&W,
c.for damages caused by faulty or unsuitable ancillary equipment,
d.for damages caused by accidents, lightning, water, fire heat, war, public disturbances or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of B&W and its appointed distributors,
e.for products whose serial number has been altered, deleted, removed or made illegible,
f.if repairs or modifications have been executed by an unauthorised person.
4This guarantee complements any national/regional law obligations of dealers or national distributors and does not affect your statutory rights as a customer.
How to claim repairs under warranty
Should service be required, please follow the following procedure:
1If the equipment is being used in the country of purchase, you should contact the B&W authorised dealer from whom the equipment was purchased.
2If the equipment is being used outside the country of purchase, you should contact B&W national distributor in the country of residence who will advise where the equipment can be serviced.
You can call B&W in the UK or visit our web site to get the contact details of your local distributor.
To validate your warranty, you will need to produce this warranty booklet completed and stamped by your dealer on the date of purchase. Alternatively, you will need the original sales invoice or other proof of ownership and date of purchase.

Introduction
Thank you for choosing B&W.
Please read this manual fully before unpacking and installing the product. It will help you to optimise its performance.

Unpacking
Check in the carton for:

Positioning
As an initial guide:

Position the speakers so they subtend an angle of approximately 60º at the centre of the listening area.

Position the centre speaker either immediately above or immediately below the screen, depending on which is nearer ear height. The XT2 may be used in horizontal orientation if desired to give a better visual aspect next to the screen, but we recommend the XTC speaker for this application in preference.
Position the left and right speakers within approximately 0.5m (20 in) of the sides of the screen, to keep the sound image in scale with the visual image on screen. Their height should be somewhere between the centre of the screen and the height of the centre speaker.
Multi-channel surround
Position the speakers as shown in figure 4 according to the number of surround channels. To get a more even coverage over an extended listening area, it is beneficial to raise the speakers above ear height, say 60cm (2 ft).
Mounting
The speakers may be mounted on a shelf or bookcase, on the wall or on the optional floor stand
The floor stand supports the base of the speaker 700mm (27.5 in) above the floor and we recommend that you use approximately this height for all mounting options, although surround and front home theatre applications may warrant a different height (see above).
Stray magnetic fields
The speaker drive units create stray magnetic fields that extend beyond the boundaries of the cabinet. We recommend you keep magnetically sensitive articles (CRT television and computer screens, computer discs, audio and video tapes, swipe cards and the like) at least 0.5m from the speaker. LCD and plasma screens are not affected by magnetic fields.

Mounting on the wall
We strongly recommend two people for the final part of this job, one to hold the speaker and the other to feed and connect the cable.
If you are running cable in the wall, the bracket can also disguise the cable between its exit from the wall and the speaker terminals, but only if the cable is flexible enough. It is difficult to recommend a definite maximum gauge, because cables vary significantly in flexibility, depending on the insulation material. Solid core cable is not recommended because of its lack of flexibility and tendency to fracture when bent sharply. 4mm2 or 10AWG is probably a practical maximum and, if the two insulated cores have an additional, common outer sheath, this should be removed from close to the wall exit.
You should determine and mark the position of the wall plate, and therefore the correct exit point of the cable from the wall, before routing the cable.
The wall bracket assembly consists of a wall plate to which is attached a 'wave' shape cover. Disassemble the two parts by sliding one against the other before pulling them apart. Note that in use, the two parts may be required to mate in a different orientation from that supplied.
There are two mounting templates (left and right), because the wall plate is offset from the centre line of the speaker. Furthermore, the wall bracket supplied allows the speaker to swivel through 30 degrees, but only towards the opposite side to the wall plate. (figure 6)
