Blade Tension
The bandsaw blade must be adequately ten- sioned so that it will cut straight and not fall off the wheel during operation.
To tension the bandsaw blade:
1.Disconnect the machine from the power source!
2.Remove the thumbscrew that secures the upper cover, then pull the upper cover off the bandsaw unit to expose the upper wheel.
3.Turn the tension bolt (shown in Figure 35) counterclockwise to decrease the tension and clockwise to increase the tension.

4.Tension the blade so that it deflects approx- imately 1⁄4" with moderate pressure from your finger.
Disconnect power to the machine when perform- ing any adjustments or maintenance. Failure to do this may result in seri- ous personal injury.
