Save the host and IP address information of the ELAN configuration in the /etc/hosts files.
Example: The following is a sample portion of the /etc/hosts file containing the host and IP address information for the ATM adapters:
8"2*
"2*
"2*
2*
If you have a filer that has only ATM adapters, the /etc/hosts file must contain an entry for the filer’s host name. For example, the first line in the example might be as follows:
8"2*2*
The host name is not displayed as part of the command prompt until you add the host name in one IP entry and reboot the filer. On filers that include other types of network interfaces, the installation setup procedure automatically adds the host name entry to
the /etc/hosts file.

Repeat the complete instructions in this document to configure additional ATM adapt- ers in the filer.

To connect to an ATM network, you must have a duplex 62.5/125 micron multimode fiber optic cable with an SC connector. Make sure that you observe the maximum cable length specifications listed in the appropriate ATM Forum UNI standard.
To connect the filer to an ATM network, push the duplex fiber optic cable connector into the card’s connector until it clicks and locks into place. Figure 1 shows a duplex fiber optic cable connecting to an ATM card. The transmit port on the ATM card is labeled T and the receive port is labeled R.
