Removing the hard drive

1.Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparing to disassemble the HP TouchSmart PC on page 11).

2.Place the computer face down on a soft, flat surface.

3.Remove the hard drive/memory cover (see Hard drive/memory cover on page 12).

4.Remove the stand (see Stand on page 15).

5.Loosen the captured screw (1) that secures the hard drive to the computer.

6.Pull up on the handle (2) of the hard drive assembly, and the pull the assembly partially out of the computer (3).

7.Remove the power/data cable from the rear of the hard drive.

8.Remove the hard drive from the computer.

To remove the hard drive from the hard drive cage:

1.Remove the four screws, two on each side, that secure the hard drive into the hard drive cage.

2.Lift the cage off the hard drive.
