MP3 The file extension for MPEG, audio layer 3, sound files. This format compresses sound data from a stereo music CD to one-half of its original size without sacrificing sound quality. Because of their small size, MP3 files can easily be transferred over the Internet. You can download individual songs or entire CDs in MP3 format to your computer.

The format is easily identified by the file extension .mp3.

multimedia Two or more media formats used together, such as text, graphics, animation, audio, or video.

music software Programs for composing and editing music. When you play a tune on a synthesizer keyboard connected to a computer, the music program translates what you play into

a written score.
