14 Appliance Setup

A. Remove Glass Assembly

See Section J.

B. Remove the Shipping Materials

Remove shipping materials from inside or underneath the firebox.

C. Clean the Appliance

Clean/vacuum any sawdust that may have accumulated inside the firebox or underneath in the control cavity.

D. Accessories

Install approved accessories per instructions included with accessories. Contact your dealer for a list of ap- proved accessories.

WARNING! Risk of Fire and Electric Shock! Use ONLY Hearth & Home Technologies-approved optional acces- sories with this appliance. Using non-listed accessories could result in a safety hazard and will void the warranty.

E. Install the Refractory

An optional weathered brick refractory is available for this appliance. Follow the installation instructions supplied with the refractory.

F. Place the Lava Rock & Vermiculite

• See Figures 14.1. 14.2. and 14.4.

• It is not necessary to use the entire bag of either product. Save the remaining amount for future use.

G. Place the Rockwool

WARNING! Risk of Explosion! Follow rockwool placement instructions. DO NOT place rockwool directly over burner ports. Replace rockwool material annually. Improperly placed rockwool interferes with proper burner operation.

• Rockwool is shipped with this gas appliance.

• Place a small amount of 1/2 in. diameter pieces (dime‑size) of rockwool on the burner pan so that rock wool touches but does not cover the holes in the burner pan.

• It is not necessary to use the entire bag. Save the remaining amount for future use.
