TROUBLE SHOOTING

FAULT

POSSIBLE CAUSE

REMEDY

 

 

 

 

 

The engine will not start

Cutterdeck switch is engaged.

Move cutterdeck switch to disengaged.

 

with ignition key.

 

 

 

 

Parking brake is not applied.

Set parking brake.

 

 

Battery is flat.

Charge the battery.

 

 

Faulty electrical connections.

Trace and correct fault.

 

 

The seat switch is faulty.

Replace switch.

 

 

Fuse is blown.

Replace fuse.

 

 

Sweeper switch is engaged.

Move sweeper switch to dis-engaged.

 

 

 

 

 

Flat Battery.

Terminal connection loose or corroded.

Clean and tighten terminal connections.

 

 

 

Recharge battery.

 

 

Loose or defective alternator belt.

Re-tension or replace drive belt, refer -

 

 

 

ENGINE HANDBOOK.

 

 

Defective battery.

Recharge battery.

 

 

 

Replace battery.

 

 

Electrical short circuit.

Trace short circuit and make good.

 

 

 

 

 

Engine will not start, is

Install new, correctly adjusted spark plug.

 

 

Choke is not closing.

Adjust throttle cable.

 

 

Dirt in fuel filter.

Replace fuel filter.

 

 

Idle speed is too low or mixture is incorrect.

Adjust carburettor idler speed and mixture.

 

 

Air vents in engine cover blocked with debris.

Clear vents of debris.
