Operation

How To Use The Index Lever

1Stop the engine. Do not change the position of the index lever while the engine is running.

2Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug.

3Loosen the front wheel knob (A) shown in Figure 17. Slide the front wheel (B) all the way to the right side.

4Securely tighten the front wheel knob.

CAUTION

To prevent the blade (C) from hitting the wheel while trimming, make sure the front wheel is set in the extreme right position.

5Disengage the index lever (D) (see Figure 18). Move the index lever to the desired position.

For edging, set the index lever at a desired angle position (0_ to 45_). Usually, angle position 30_ or 45_ will provided the desired result (see Figure 18).

For trimming, set the index lever at angle position 90_ (see Figure 19).

6Connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.

7Start the engine.

8Move the clutch lever to the desired height. See “How To Use The Clutch / Depth Control Lever” in the Operation Section.

NOTE: For deep edging, first cut at shallow depths. Then, cut at greater depths until the desired depth is obtained.

WARNING

Rotating parts can contact or entangle hands, feet, hair, clothing, or accessories.

Traumatic amputation or severe laceration can result.

Before you adjust the wheels or change the position of the blade, release the engine stop lever to stop the engine.

Do not change the position of the index lever while the engine is running.

Change the cutting angle of the blade only when the engine is not running.
