How To Remove The Belt

The belt (A) is made of a special compound. If the belt becomes worn or breaks, replace the belt with an original equipment belt.

1Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug.

2Pull the clutch / depth control lever (B) back to release the tension from the belt (see Figure 22).

3Remove the two screws (C) and spacers (D) from the top of the engine pulley cover (E). Remove the engine pulley cover (see Figure 23).

4Loosen, do not remove, the screw (F) that holds the belt guide (G). Then, move the belt guide away from the belt.

5Remove the two screws (H) from the belt guard (J) (see Figure 24).

6Remove the old belt from the engine pulley (K) and from the quill assembly pulley (L). Replace with an original equipment belt.

7To install a new belt, reverse the above steps.
