How it works
After pressing a configured “Paging” softkey on the phone, the Phone sends RTP to a preconfigured multicast address. Any phone in the local network then listens for RTP on the preconfigured multicast address. For both sending and receiving of the multicast RTP there is no sip signaling involved. The Phone displays the “Paging” message to the phone’s LCD.
Note: Multicast RTP is one way only - from sender to the receiver (i.e. from sender to the multicast address (receiver)).
The phone uses the G711 uLaw CODEC for multicast RTP.
