Gerkin Protocol Program (Required wireless chest strap)

1.The Gerkin Protocol program (based on Gerkin Protocol) is a graded submaximal V02 test used by the International Association of Fire Fighters to determine fitness for fire department duty.

2.The test is a series of 1 minute exercise stages, alternating between elevation grade and speed (i.e. first minute elevation is increased, next minute speed is increased, etc.) until the individual heart rate exceeds the target exercise heart rate.

3.The text ends when the target heart rate is reached and is maintained for 15 seconds. The results are converted in a V02 MAX value that will be shown in the central information window at the end of the test.

4.The target exercise heart rate is 85 percent of the predicted maximal heart rate for a specific individual based on age.

To select the Gerkin Protocol program:

Press the OTHER PROGRAMS key and select the Gerkin Protocol program and follow the instructions shown in the central information window.
