Changing the Autofocus Method (AF Method) Selecting the AF Method

You can select the AF method suiting the shooting conditions or subject. The following AF methods are provided: [u(face)+Tracking], [FlexiZone - Multi] (p.155), [FlexiZone - Single] (p.156), and [Quick mode] (p.160). AF methods other than the [Quick mode] use the image sensor to autofocus while displaying the Live View image.

Select the AF method.

Under the [A] tab, select [AF method]. Select the desired AF method, then press <0>.

While the Live View image is displayed, you can also press the <Q> button to select the AF method on the Quick Control screen (p.149).

u(face)+Tracking: c

Human faces are detected and focused. If a face moves, the AF point <p> also moves to track the face.

1Display the Live View image.

Press the <A> button.

XThe Live View image will appear on the LCD monitor.

2Select an AF point.

When a face is detected, the <p> AF point will appear over the face to be focused.

If multiple faces are detected, <q> will be displayed. Press the <U> key to move the <q> frame over the desired target face.

You can also tap the LCD monitor screen to select the face or subject. If the subject is not a face, < > will be displayed.
