Selecting the Recording Mode
The camcorder offers 4 recording modes. Changing the recording mode will change the recording time available on the hard disk. Select HXP or XP mode for better movie quality; select LP mode for longer recording times. The following table gives approximate recording times.

NOTES
•Recording in LP mode gives you a longer recording time; however,
depending on the scene being recorded, the picture and sound recorded in LP mode may be distorted. We recommend using HXP or XP mode for important recordings. If necessary,
initialize the hard disk ( 64).
•The camcorder uses a variable bit rate (VBR) when encoding the video data so the actual recording times will vary depending on the content of the scenes.
