medium speed: determines the responsiveness of the control when the knob is being turned at a moderate speed. A setting of

0 will cause the volume to change as slowly as possible at medium speeds; a setting of 100 will cause the volume to change as quickly as allowed at medium knob speeds. (The menu is the same as the one above except for the indication that it is for the “medium speed” adjustment.)

high speed: determines the responsiveness of the control when the knob is being turned rapidly. A setting of 0 will cause the volume to change as slowly as possible at high knob speeds; a setting of

100 will cause the volume to change as quickly as allowed at high knob speeds. (The menu is the same as the one above except for the indication that it is for the “high speed” adjustment.)

speed limit: establishes a maximum rotary speed, beyond which there will be no change in volume whatsoever; the knob’s input will be ignored completely until it is first stopped, and then rotated at a slower speed.

reset defaults: if after experimenting with various settings you decide you prefer it the way it operated as it came from the factory, pressing this button will restore the factory default settings. So feel free to experiment – you can always return to the original settings.

The max volume screen allows you to establish a maximum volume setting for your system. This scale runs from 0 to 100, with 100 indicating that you do not want any artificial limit placed on the maximum gain your preamplifier can provide.

This setting is interactive. You can set the value to something less than 100, and then adjust the volume to see whether it is appropriate.

The startup volume screen allows you to define how the CP-700 handles its initial volume upon starting up. Your choices are:

last volume: this setting causes the CP-700 to behave as do basic preamplifiers that use simple potentiometers for their volume control. The turn-on volume is whatever it happened to be when last used.

specific: alternatively, you can elect to have a specific startup volume of your choosing. Select the specific button, and then set your preference by clicking the set volume button beside it. The latter button takes you to a screen in which you can both see and hear the setting you are choosing (assuming you are playing music at the time. Setting a relatively low startup volume ensures that you do not accidentally disturb anyone when first turning on the system.

cp-700 specifications

The Classe Audio CP-700 is a high-performance audio preamplifier that exemplifies the brand’s commitment to sound quality, design, and innovative technology. Tailored for audiophiles and music enthusiasts, the CP-700 combines superior build quality with advanced circuitry to deliver an immersive listening experience.

One of the standout features of the CP-700 is its robust digital processing capabilities. It includes a high-resolution DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) that supports audio formats up to 24-bit/192kHz. This ensures that every detail of the music is reproduced with outstanding clarity and precision. The preamplifier also boasts multiple digital inputs, including USB, coaxial, and optical, making it versatile enough to accommodate various audio sources.

The analog section of the CP-700 is equally impressive, featuring Classe's proprietary technologies that minimize noise and distortion. The preamplifier utilizes high-quality components and a carefully engineered circuit design that embraces a dual-mono architecture. This approach reduces crosstalk and enhances imaging, allowing listeners to experience a wider soundstage and more defined instrument placement.

Moreover, the CP-700 features a state-of-the-art volume control system. Rather than a traditional potentiometer, Classe employs a digitally controlled analog attenuator, providing precise volume adjustments without compromising the audio quality. Users can expect smooth and seamless changes in volume levels, enhancing user experience during playback.

In terms of usability, the Classe CP-700 offers an intuitive interface, with a large, bright display and a user-friendly remote control. The preamp can also be controlled via an app, adding convenience for modern users who prefer controlling their audio systems through mobile devices.

Another notable characteristic is its elegant design. The CP-700 features a sleek aluminum chassis with a minimalist aesthetic that fits well in various home theater or music room setups. This careful attention to design aligns with Classe Audio’s philosophy of marrying form with function.

In conclusion, the Classe Audio CP-700 preamplifier stands out for its high-resolution audio capabilities, advanced volume control, and exceptional build quality. It is an ideal choice for discerning listeners who seek an unparalleled audio experience without compromising on features or aesthetics.
