5. Toeventhe deckturnthe adjustmentgear,locatedimmediately
behindthehexcap screw,clockwise(rearward)tolowerthe left
sideofthe deck.Turn thegear counter-clockwise(towardfront)to
raisetheleft side ofthe deck.See Figure15.
6. Thedeckis properlyleveledwhenbothblade tipmeasurements,
asdescribedearlier,areequal.
7. Retightenthehexcap screwin the leftdeck adjustmentbracket
whenproperadjustmentisachieved.
Front To Rear Deck Leveling
Thefrontof the cuttingdeckis supportedbyanadjustablefrontdeck
hangerrod.This rodcanbe adjustedto setthe frontto rear pitchof
thedeck.The frontof the deckshouldbe approximately1/4-inchlower
thantherear of thedeck.
Adjustifnecessaryasfollows:
NOTE:Thedeckshould first beleveledsideto side.Checktheside to
sidelevelof the deckand adjust if necessary.
1. Withthetractor parkedona firm, levelsurface,movethe deckto
themidheight position(thirdor fourthnotch)using thedeck lift
lever.CarefullyrotatetheRHblade(nearestthe dischargechute)
sothat it is parallelwiththe tractor frame.
2. Measurethedistancefromthe frontof thebladetip to theground
andthe rearof the bladetipto the ground.Thefront measure-
menttakenshouldbe approximately1/4"less thanthe rear
measurement.Determinewhetherthefrontof thedeck hasto be
raisedorlowered.
3. Workingatthefront of thetractor,loosenthe twohex lock nutsat
thefrontof the deckhangerrod. Threadthelock nutsawayfrom
thehexnuts behindthem.Referto Figure16.

4. Usea open endwrenchto turnthe innerhex nutsto adjustthe
frontof thedeck. Turnthe hexnutsclockwiseto raisethe front
ofthe deck,or counterclockwiseto lowerthefrontof the deck.
Adjustthe hexnutsevenlyso thatthe deckhangerrod is at the
frontof bothslots inthe hangerbracketon thefrontof the deck.

5. Refightenthetwohex locknutswhenproperlyadjusted.
Deck Gauge Wheel
NOTE:Thedeck gaugewheelsarean anti-scalpfeatureofthe deck
andare notdesignedto supporttheweightof the cuttingdeck.
Thedeck gaugewheelsshouldneithercontacttheground,nor be high
offthe ground,whenthe deck is movedto thedesired heightsetting.If
youchangeyourcuttingheight duringthemowingseason,the gauge
wheelsshouldbecheckedand adjustedasnecessary.
Adjustthegauge wheelsasfollows:
1. Placethetractoron a fiatsurface andmovethe deckto the
desiredmowingheightusingthedeck lift lever.
2. Checkgaugewheelsdistancefromthe flat surfacebelow.If the
gaugewheelscontacttheground,they mustbe raised.If the
gaugewheelsarehigherthan 1/2"above theground,they should
belowered.
3. Removethehexflangelocknut and shoulderboltsecuringoneof
thefront gaugewheelstothe front indexbracket.Repositionthe
gaugewheelto alignwiththe oneof fiveindexholes thatplaces
thewheel 1/4"to 1/2"abovethe ground.Securethegaugewheel
tothe indexbracketwiththe shoulderbolt andflangelock nut.
