BELTS

Besureto shutthe engineoff, removeignitionkey,disconnectthe sparkplugwire(s)to preventunintendedstartingbeforeremovingthe belt(s).

PTO Belt

Allbeltsonyour tractorare subjectto wearandshouldbe replacedif anysignsof weararepresent.

IMPORTANT:Do not usesubstitutebelts.Thebelt foundonyour tractoris speciallydesignedfor optimalperformanceandservicelife for yourdeckapplication.Useonly OEMoriginalreplacementbelts.

Toreplacethe PTObelt,proceedas follows:

1.Removethedeckfrombeneaththe tractor(referto CuttingDeck Removal).

2.Maneuverthe PTObeltdownwardandoffthe idlerpulleyonthe springloadedidlerbracket.

NOTE:It maybe necessaryto loosenthe hexcap screwandflange locknut securingthe pulleyto the idlerbracketto fitthe beltbetween the pulleyand bracket.Slidethe beltbetweenthe bottomof the idler pulleyandtop of the timingbeltidlerpulleybelow.SeeFigure22.

3.Loopthe beltand pushout of theV- grooveof the drivepulleyon the right handspindleassembly.Liftthe belt overthe pulleyand out frombeneaththe spindlecover.SeeFigure22.

4.Loopthe newPTObelt andslidebetweenthe topof the drive pulleyandspindlecover.Maneuverthe beltaroundandintothe V-grooveof the drivepulley.

5.Routethebacksideof the beltaroundidlerpulleyandbetween the idlerpulleyandidlerbracket.Re-tightenthe hexscrewand flangelock nutif loosenedearlier.Referto Figure22.

6.Routethebelt aroundthe fixedidlerpulleyas shownin Figure22

and re-installthe deckas describedin "Reinstallingthe Cutting Deck"laterinthis section.

Timing Belt

To replacethe timingbelt,proceedas follows:

1.Removethe deckfrombeneaththe tractor(referto CuttingDeck Removal).

2.Removethe PTObeltdrive pulleyof the righthandspindle assemblyas describedin "PTOBelt."

3.Removethe hexscrew,flatwasher,lockwasher,shoulderspacer, andflangelocknut thatmakeup the idlerbracketbackstop.Refer to Figure21above.

NOTE:Itmaybenecessaryto cleanthe undersideof the mowingdeck to accessthehex screw.
