PREPARING THE ENGINE

Fuelintank canbecomestalewhen equipmentisstoredover 30days.
Stalefuelcausesacid andgumdepositsto form infuel systemoron
essentialcarburetorparts.
ToPreventFuel-RelatedProblems:
1. Addgasolinestabilizerfollowingthemanufacturer'sinstructions.
Whenaddinga gasolinestabilizer,fillthe fueltank withfresh
gasoline.Ifonly partiallyfilled,air in the tankwill promotefuel
deteriorationduring storage.Ifyoukeep a containerofgasoline
forrefueling,be surethat it containsonlyfreshgasoline.
2. Afteraddinga gasolinestabilizer,runthe engineoutdoorsfor
10minutestobe surethattreatedgasolinehas replacedthe
untreatedgasolineinthecarburetor.
3. Turnthefuel valvetotheOFF position.
4. Continuetorun theengineuntil it stopsfromthelack offuel inthe
carburetorfuelbowl.Runningtimeshouldbe lessthan 3 minutes.

PREPARING THE LAWN MOWER

Clean andlubricatemowerthoroughlyasdescribedinthe lubrica-
tioninstructions.
Donot usea pressurewasherorgardenhose toclean yourunit.
Coat mower'scuttingbladewithchassisgreaseto prevent
rusting.
RefertoPREPARINGTHE ENGINEforcorrectenginestorage
instructions.
Store mowerin a dry,clean area. Do notstorenext tocorrosive
materials,suchasfertilizer.
Whenstoringanytype of powerequipmentina poorlyventilatedor
metalstorageshed,care shouldbe takentorust-prooftheequipment.
Usingalight oil orsilicone,coatthe equipment,especiallycablesand
allmovingpartsof yourlawnmowerbeforestorage.
IMPORTANT:iffuelstabilizerisnot used,youneedtodrain gasoline
fromequipmentpriorto storage.Runengineuntil itstopsfroma lack
offuel.
Performthefollowingbeforelong-termstorageof equipment:
1. Whileengineis stillwarm,changeoil.
2. Removesparkplugand pourapproximately1/2oz.(15 ml)of
newengineoil intosparkplugcavitywhichputsoil intocylinder.
Replacesparkplugsecurely.
3. Pullstarterropeslowly.Thisturns theengine'scrankshaftand
distributesoilthroughtheengine.
4. Addfuel stabilizerordrain fuelfromengine.
5. Cleandirt anddebris fromtop andall areasaroundengine.
6. Storein a clean,dry area.
