ADJUSTMENT/REPAIR

FRICTION WHEEL REPLACEMENT

1.Remove gas from gas tank.

2.Disconnect spark plug wire.

3.Stand blower up on auger housing end. Remove bottom panel.

4.Disconnect speed control rod from speed rod by remov- ing cotter pin (see Figure 38). Keep trunnion in same position on speed control rod. Movement of the trunnion will result in speed changes.

5.Remove fasteners securing friction wheel to hub, and set fasteners aside (see Figure 39).

6.Remove four bolts securing bearing plates (both sides).

7.Remove right side bearing plate. Leave hex shaft in origi- nal position.

8.Remove friction wheel from hub. Slip friction wheel off hex shaft towards right side.

9.Position new friction wheel onto hub (see Figure 40). Install bearing plates to original position. Ensure hex shaft is engaged with both bearing plates.

10.Secure bearing plates using bolts removed earlier.

11.Secure friction wheel to hub using fasteners removed earlier. Ensure hex shaft turns freely.

12.Replace bracket to speed control lever.

13.Reconnect speed control rod to speed rod by reassem- bling the trunnion assembly and cotter pin.

14.Should friction wheel require adjustment see "Friction Wheel Adjustment".

NOTE: Ensure friction wheel and friction disc are free from grease or oil.

15.Reinstall bottom panel.
