DCS-G900 User’s Manual

Glossary

SSID (Service Set Identifier): The name designated for a specific wireless local area network (WLAN). The SSID can be easily changed to connect to an existing wireless network.

Static IP: A static IP address is configured manually on the device that will be using it. A static IP address remains the same constantly and must be a unique address.

WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy): A security protocol for wireless local area networks (WLAN) that is designed to provide the same level of security as a wired network. WEP provides security by encrypting the data sent over the WLAN. The DCS-G900 supports 64-bit and 128-bit encryption.

Wired: Devices networked via Ethernet cabling.

Wireless: Devices networked using radio frequencies instead of physical cabling.

WPA-PSK(Wi-Fi Protected Access with Pre-Shared Key): A security protocol for wireless local area networks that requires that the router and DCS-G900 have the same pre-shared key in order to establish a wireless connection.
