Thesystem board holds the computer's control circuitry and other electroniccompo-
nents.Some hardware options are installed directly on the systemboard. Drive
supportis as follows:
Thethree 5.25-inch external drive baysprovide space for up to three drives,
includinga 3.5-inch diskette drive(standard) and, typically, an optional CD-ROM
driveand/or tape drive.
Theremovable hard-disk drive cage providesspace for up to three 1-inch hard-
diskdrives.
Whenyou look inside the computer, note the DC power cablesleading from the
powersupply. The power cablessupply power to the system board, drives, and any
expansioncards that connect to external peripherals.
Thewide ribbon cables are the interface cables for internaldrives. For the diskette
drive,an interface cable connects eachdrive to an interface connector on the system
boardor on an expansion card. For IDE devices, interfacecables connect the devices
