Installing a Media Card Reader

CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions located in the Product Information Guide.

NOTICE: To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static electricity from your body before you touch any of your computer’s electronic components. You can do so by touching an unpainted metal surface on the computer chassis.

1Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 53.

2Lay the computer on its side so that the system board is on the bottom of the inside of the computer.

3Remove the computer cover (see page 60).

4Remove the drive panel (see page 77).

5Remove the Media Card Reader and bracket from its packaging and ensure that all of the screws are included.

6Gently slide the drive into place until you feel a click or feel the drive securely installed. Ensure that the Media Card Reader is installed before the FlexBay cable is connected.

7Connect the FlexBay USB cable to the back of the Media Card Reader and to the Media Card Reader connector on the system board (see page 62).
