(2)Auto decode surround mode settings

The auto decode surround mode can be used for multi-channel and 2-channel stereo playback in the Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II, and DTS surround modes, according to the input signal’s format.

Here we describe the 2-channel decode mode settings for setting whether to play 2-channel sources as such in the 2-channel mode or in the multi-channel mode, as well as the settings for the Dolby Pro Logic II mode.

[1] 2-channel decode mode settings

In the auto decode surround mode for the DVD, TV/DBS and V.AUX functions, you can select and set the auto stereo mode for playing 2-channel sources in 2-channel stereo, or the Pro Logic II mode for using Dolby Pro Logic II processing to achieve multi-channel playback.

Surround parameters (1)

(2-channel decode mode)

A-ST (auto stereo) mode

2-channel sources are played in 2-channel stereo.

When this mode is selected in the auto decode surround mode, DVD, BS digital and other multi-channel sources are played as such with multiple channels, while CDs and other 2-channel sources are automatically played in stereo.

For 2-channel Dolby Digital sources decoded in Dolby Surround, identification signals are used to automatically process the signals in Dolby Pro Logic II and play them in the multi-channel mode.

PLII (Pro Logic II) mode

Even 2-channel sources undergo Dolby Pro Logic II processing and are played in the multi-channel mode. When this mode is selected in the auto decode surround mode, DVD, BS digital and other multi-channel sources are played as such with multiple channels, and CDs and other 2- channel sources also automatically undergo Dolby Pro Logic

IIprocessing and are played in the multi-channel mode.

In the Dolby Pro Logic II mode, “CINEMA”, “MUSIC” or “DOLBY PL” (Pro Logic) can be selected and set. (See page 42 for setting instructions.)

NOTE:

The 2-channel decode mode cannot be set when Dolby Digital 5.1-channel signals or DTS signals are being input.

The 2-channel decode mode is stored separately for the DVD, TV/DBS and V.AUX modes. (In the Dolby Pro Logic II mode, the “CINEMA”, “MUSIC” or “DOLBY PL” (Pro Logic) mode is also stored in the memory.)
