4.2. SETUP WITH USE OF THE SEARCH CODE FEATURE

NOTE

A completed search is indicated by eight blinks.

If the original remote control unit for the VCR, DVD or audio device does not have a on/off key: before you continue insert a tape or disk before you continue;

For some codes the play or Volume + key might work.

1.Switch your TV to on and make sure a broadcast is seen.

2.On the RCU, press the TV key continuously until the indicator stays on.

3.Release the TV key and make sure the indicator blinks continuously.

4.On the RCU, press the on/standby key and make sure the indicator of the TV key stays on.

5.Press the up key once and see if the TV switches off.

Make sure you wait at least 2 seconds to allow the TV to respond.

6.If the TV does not switch off, repeat step 5 until the TV switches off.

7.After the TV switched off, press the OK key to store the code.

8.On the RCU, press the on/off key. See that the TV key blinks once and the TV switches on.

9.Now your are ready to read-out the code from the memory for future use.

4.3.READ OUT THE EQUIPMENT CODE

NOTE

You can read out the code from the RCU, just blink back the code. It is handy for future reference. Remember you only can blink back the code after the RCU operates your device.

1.Switch your TV to on and make sure a broadcast is seen.

2.On the RCU, press the TV key continuously until the indicator stays on.

3.Release the TV key and make sure the indicator blinks continuously.

4.Use the numerical keys to enter code 9 9 0.

5.Monitor the TV key and note that the indicator goes off and stays off.

NOTE

The amount of blinks gives you the first number, no blinks indicate a 0.

6.Press the numerical key 1 and count the blinks for the first number.

7.Press the numerical key 2 and count the blinks for the second number.

8.Press the numerical key 3 and count the blinks for the third number.

9.Press the numerical key 4 and count the blinks for the fourth number.

10.Write the code, with a permanent pen, in the boxes in the battery cover and this manual.

11.Now the RCU is programmed to control your TV.

5.SPECIAL SETUP FUNCTIONS

It is possible to control a second TV or VCR with your RCU. One of the other mode keys (TV, VCR, AUX) must be sacrificed in this case. It is not possible to sacrifice the SAT key.

It is also possible to control another (up to 16) EchoStar receivers that use the equipment code 0222. This is done with use of the address feature in the SAT mode.
