It is good practice to remove the battery fr om the charger after it is
fullycharged. Regularly leaving a fully charged battery in the chargerfor
an extendedperiod (such as longer than overnight or over a weekend),
may shortenbattery life. In addition, the ambient temperature should be
+50° to +95° F (+10° to +35° C) when recharginga battery.
NOTE: It isrecommended that one of the rapid chargers be used when-
everpossible (especially the new technology DT/Dt chargers listed on the
precedingpage). Using those chargers normally results in longer battery
life, longeroperating time, and faster recharging.
Speaking Into Microphone
For bestresults, hold the speaker grille about l-2 inches away from
your mouthand speak slowly and distinctly at a normal conversational
level. Donot shout since it distorts your voice and does not increase
range. Make sure the push-to-talk switch is pressed before you begi nt o
speakand released as soon as the message is complete.
Operation At Extended Range
When approachingthe limits of radio range, the other party may not
always hearyour transmissions and there may be an increase in back-
ground noisewhen m essagesare received. Communication may be
improvedby moving to higher ground or away from shielding structures
suchas tallbuildings and hills.
